Even as I write this post I am about to get back to several time consuming activities. But I wanted to update the small following I had while I was thinking about it. Hello, there; I’m Zeke (or Zeke50100, but I prefer the former). I’ve been buddies with Chickencowlord and Alabama Pitty for a while now (I’ll be scowled at for the use of the word, “buddy”), and decided I might stroll down here for a walk. What did I find? Video Games, Grammar, and Pop Tarts. It definitely appealed to me ^_^

Anyway, I’m a not-so-hardcore gamer, although I do find myself diving into strange worlds with spiky hair, long swords, and magic. You guessed it: I’m a JRPG nerd! Well, not so much a JRPG nerd as I am a Final Fantasy fan, but I prefer all types of RPGs, RTSes, and other types of strategy games (you won’t find me playing many first person shooters, if you’re looking forward to that).

Most of my posts will probably be related to gaming of some sort, although I’ll add in some quirky posts here and there, as well. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Sorry for being a bit inactive. Been kinda busy this week,

So, being a rather nocturnal person, I was searching through the pantry for a late night snack and stumbled upon these:

Blueberry muffin….Poptarts? This, needless to say, sounded revolting and I wasn’t sure who’s bright idea it was to purchase these. After trying them, however, they weren’t quite as bad as they sounded to me. Upon further research, I discovered several bizarre Poptart flavors had existed with peanut butter and jelly Poptarts being the most strange.

Check back tomorrow for a more serious post and a list of ideas I have for this blog I’d like some feedback on.

Grammar = Intelligence: Perhaps The Web’s Biggest Misconception

So most likely if you’ve been an any large internet community for over 5 minutes you’ve encountered those members whom seem to be in the 3rd grade based on their literate skills. You might even see a few that use what we’ve dubbed “1337 Speak”. Often these members are ridiculed upon and sometimes even made fun of and isolated by a group of grammatical speakers. I think this is possibly one of the biggest mistakes of the internet.

I could rummage through any forum for one such instance, but I don’t think I even need to since I’m sure most all of you are familiar with grammar-less member who pops in on an intelligent conversation than gets made fun of or ignored by those with grammar. If you think about it, it’s almost a classic example of bullying, except the group of smart kids pick on the one who seems less intelligent rather than the other way around.

But these illiterate members of the discussion are often simply misunderstood. I have many real-life friends that do much better in school than I do (even in English class :p). Yet the moment they log onto Facebook or join any online discussion, it seems all their intelligence fades away as they’re disregarded by those practicing their grammar online. But being that I know them in real life, I don’t judge my friends based on their online presence and often find when we’re having a serious conversation they’ll have several good points to make. The internet degrades the intelligence and power of someone based on their grammar, essentially. And many intelligent people on the internet have their opinions lost because they’re simply conforming to the illiteracy. That is, doing it because others they know are doing it.

Of course, just basing this off my friends may seem biased. but I have further evidence of this point from a past forum I once administrated. There are a few users on the boards, who’s usernames I won’t mention, (I’m sure they know who they are) that found their way to my message board without me really inviting them. At first their lack of grammar seemed to cause a disturbance and I wasn’t eager to have them there, but as time passed and they were surrounded by a community of grammar-users such as me and Pitty instead of a community of illiterates, they started using grammar and became more to the board than I ever foresaw.

I conclude that at least around half of any illiterates in an online community are intelligent and will possess grammar if they see others using it that aren’t constantly mocking them. And I challenge you to stop yourself before ridiculing an illiterate and just talk to them like a person. You might just influence them down the path of grammar as you have already chosen.

Hello, hello!

Some of you might recognize me. Others might not. Woe unto the latter.I’m Alabama Pitty, of course! The newest addition to this little chicken coup! Chicken and I’d history goes back quite a bit, to one of his earlier blogging endeavors. While that one didn’t pan out as well as either of us would have liked, we have moved on to greener (and bigger) pastures.

So, what can you expect from me? Anything really! I’m quite the gamer who enjoys a variety of genres. You’ll find me sniping enemies one moment, and solving puzzles the next. Whatever amuses me at the moment.

Reading my musings will certainly be an interesting ride, and I look forward to hearing from all of you. Now, I have posts to write. Ciao, ladies and gentleman. ^_^

Sly 2: Band of Theives

I wasn’t really sure what to choose for my first post, and this is hardly what I thought it would be, but I picked up this PS2 game yesterday and have been greatly enjoying it.I’m not sure this game is new enough to merit a formal review, and I haven’t even completed it yet. I may review it upon completion, however. I’m just posting this to hold you all over for another post that’s been on my mind the last few days. I’d played a demo of Sly Cooper, but I was incredibly surprised how addicting the free roam can be. I’ve already amassed far more coins than I’m supposed to at this point. I recommend this game to anyone who has 7 dollars and doesn’t already own it. I got it for that price at Gamestop and it has gone well beyond its current worth. Check back tonight for another post unrelated to this that I’d like to get as many reads as possible.

A Wonderfully Clean Slate

Having settled on a very general blog title and very general URL so that I may in fact blog about whatever may be on my mind, I’ve decided to once again make that somewhat awkward first post to what will probably become a much wider audience than a few previous blogs.

I’m known around the web by a few aliases, actually, but my most used one is Chickencowlord or Chickencowmancer/Chickencowmage. The name comes from a web RPG called Dragonfable which I used to blog about. No longer playing these games, I still see no reason to change my identity as it is one relatively unmistakable and memorable. As stated before, i don’t have any specific schemes for this blog and I’ll likely just post whatever may be on my mind at a given time. I’m always looking to have a community to discuss with as in previous blogs and greatly encourage any comments you may have on any post I may make. I’m also very open to sharing this nest with others, and as time goes by I may start featuring guest bloggers or permanent other bloggers so that the wait between posts on the site grows shorter and shorter. I have a few ideas already that I’d like to post about already and will hopefully get them all up before any others arise. I’m pretty excited about this blog as I think growth will be much easier than my previous ones that had very exclusive audiences. To any who may actually stumble upon this infant of a blog, check back tomorrow or tonight for another post.
